In short
- We only collect what we need to quote, book and work on your vehicle.
- We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
- Google Analytics counts website visits. It never receives what you type in our forms.
- Some services we use store data outside Australia, mainly in the United States.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. Who we are
This policy applies to Rocco Mobile Mechanics Perth (ABN 68 383 900 603), a mobile mechanic based in Scarborough, Western Australia, servicing vehicles across Perth. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean Rocco Mobile Mechanics Perth.
It explains how we handle personal information when you use this website (roccomechanics.com), call, text or email us, or have work done on your vehicle. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. What we collect
We only ask for what we need to help with your vehicle:
- Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and suburb.
- Location: the address or place where the vehicle is, so we can come to you.
- Vehicle details: make, model, year, registration (rego), VIN, odometer reading, service history and the problem you describe. We may take photos of the vehicle or parts to show you what we found.
- Job records: quotes, invoices, payments and our messages about the job.
- Website information: how the website is used, explained in section 5.
For a pre-purchase inspection we may also need the seller’s contact details or where the car is kept, to arrange access. For fleet work we keep the details of the contact person at the business.
We do not ask for sensitive information such as health details, so please do not include it in a form or message. You can ask a general question without giving your name. To book a job we need your name, a way to contact you and where the vehicle is.
3. How we collect it
- From you, when you call, text or email us, fill in a form on this website, or speak with Rocco on-site.
- From someone acting for you, for example a family member who books for you, an employer arranging fleet servicing, or a buyer who orders a pre-purchase inspection.
- From the vehicle: the logbook, service records, and fault codes and data read with our diagnostic tools.
- Automatically from the website, through Google Analytics and our web host’s server logs (section 5).
4. How we use it
We use your personal information to:
- reply to your enquiry and give you a quote;
- arrange, confirm and get to your booking;
- carry out servicing, diagnostics, repairs and inspections, and explain what we found;
- order the right parts for your vehicle;
- record the service in your logbook or service history;
- send invoices, take payment, and handle warranty or follow-up questions about the work;
- meet our legal obligations, including tax record keeping, our WA Motor Vehicle Repairer Licence (MRB11943) and Australian Consumer Law;
- understand how the website is used, so we can improve it.
After a job we may send you one message asking for a Google review. Leaving a review is entirely up to you.
7. Information stored overseas
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia:
- our website and its server logs are hosted by Spaceship on servers in the United States;
- Google (Gmail and Google Analytics) stores data in data centres in several countries, including the United States;
- Web3Forms processes form submissions outside Australia.
We use established providers with their own privacy and security protections, and only give them the information they need to provide their service.
8. Security and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our phone and online accounts are password protected, paper records are stored securely, and this website uses HTTPS encryption.
We keep invoices and business records for at least five years, as the Australian Taxation Office requires. We delete or de-identify other personal information, such as enquiries that did not become a job, once we no longer need it.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you as soon as possible and explain what to do.
9. Marketing messages
We do not run mailing lists or newsletters. If that ever changes, we will only send marketing messages with your consent, as the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) requires, and every message will include an easy way to unsubscribe.
10. Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Contact us using the details below. There is no charge.
We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will reply within 30 days. If we cannot do what you ask, for example because we must keep an invoice for tax purposes, we will tell you why in writing.
11. Privacy questions and complaints
If you have a question or complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first and give us the details. We will look into it and reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
